Campus Lost & Found Portal

Report lost or found items with photos, get matches, verify claims

1-2 weeks build

Overview

Students post a lost or found item with a category, a photo, where and when. Each new post is compared with open posts of the opposite kind using category, date window, location and TF-IDF similarity of the descriptions, and likely matches are suggested to both people. The finder hides one identifying detail, and the claimant must answer it before the admin desk releases the item.

What makes it stand up

  • 01Lost and found posts with photo, category, location and date
  • 02Match suggestions from category, date range, place and description similarity
  • 03Claim verification through a hidden detail only the owner would know
  • 04Help-desk handover log so every released item has a record
  • 05Auto-archive of unclaimed posts after a set period
