A working reverse proxy with balancing algorithms and health checks
Overview
Learn what Nginx and cloud load balancers do by writing one. The proxy is written in Go, with a Python asyncio version for students who prefer it, and spreads requests over backend containers using round-robin, weighted and least-connections strategies. Active health checks and passive failure counting pull bad backends out of rotation and bring them back when they recover. Everything runs locally in Docker.
